SCRIBBLES ENRICHMENT CLASSES
Various enrichment classes are offered on site. Both mini-courses and yearlong programs are offered in conjunction with the regular preschool classes. Independent enrichment programs begin in October. Parents are invited to free “demo” sessions in September.
Creative Drama/Five Senses (CD/FS)
Creative Drama/Five Senses is a yearlong program for 4-year-olds. The first half of the year focuses on dramatics, while the second half of the year concentrates on the senses.
Creative Drama provides language arts experiences and an opportunity for creative self-expression through dramatic play, dramatic interpretation of literature, puppetry and storytelling. Creative dramatics is the major component of the program. Each week a story is interpreted, using simple props and costumes designed by the children. Musical selections and rhythm instruments are also used to enhance our performances. The creative interpretations are based on the real experiences of the children as well as the whole wide world of imagination. We use the best in children's literature in addition to original stories dictated by the children. This class is also open to Kindergartners.
Five Senses is designed to increase each child's perception and understanding of his/her environment by focusing on the five senses of seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching. Children participate in a wide variety of activities that provide opportunities to think about how we learn, to ask questions, to perform experiments, and to do projects that illustrate their discoveries. Science, nature, art, music, cooking, nutrition, language development and creative expression are emphasized throughout the year. If your child is curious about things, loves to ask the question “why”, likes to experiment, and enjoys the stimulating experience of learning new things through the senses, then the Five Senses Enrichment Class may be just the right opportunity to develop a greater awareness of our world. This class is also open to Kindergartners. Please note that class 4D incorporates the CD/FS curriculum into its Friday morning session.
KidsClub
The KidsClub program at Scribbles provides an added dimension in preschool programming. All classes are theme based, varied and fun. Two “semesters” of four months each, October through January, and February through May, are offered and are taught by our own creative and energetic staff. This program is open to children in our Fours' classes as well as Kindergartners.
